Teaser Tuesday (March 31)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following: • Grab your current read • Open to a random page • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!) • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers! My this week is from Where Things Come Back by John Corey Whaley from page 210. I wanted the world to sit back, listen up, and let me explain to it that when someone is sad and hopeless, the last thing they need to feel is that they are the only ones in the world with that feeling So I just finished this book, and all I have to say is-was not expecting that. At all. This book was so well written, though at times I found …

The Sunday Post (March 29)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  ~this meme was inspired in part by ~ In My Mailbox~ It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog. This week on my blog: Monday ~ Release Day Blitz of Storm Boxed Set; Review of These Broken Stars Tuesday ~ Teaser Tuesday Wednesday ~ WWW Wednesday; Waiting on Wednesday Thursday ~ Book Recommendations-Jane Austen Themed Friday ~ Friday Finds Goals and Challenges: I am three books behind my goal of a 150 books on the Goodreads challenge. I’ve read 25 books so far. I’m not worried though-there’s still plenty of time to catch up. Also, I’m trying to not feel pressured by the goal. I don’t want it to make me feel as if reading is a chore. I hope to finish The Girl at Midnight, The Girl on the Train, and Where Things Come Back, …

Friday Finds (March 27)

FRIDAY FINDS showcases the books you ‘found’ and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list… whether you found them online, or in a bookstore, or in the library — wherever! (they aren’t necessarily books you purchased). It is hosted by Miz B over at A Daily Rhythm. One of my finds this week, The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson, is from a friend on Tumblr. A dark and devious literary suspense novel about a random encounter, sex, and a conversation that quickly turns to murder–a modern reimagining of Patricia Highsmith’s classic Strangers on a Train–from the author of the acclaimed The Girl with a Clock for a Heart On a late flight from London to Boston, Ted Severson meets the stunning and mysterious Lily Kintner. Over one too many martinis, the two strangers play a game, one in which they begin revealing more and more intimate details about themselves. Ted talks about his wife, Miranda–how his marriage has gone stale, how a week ago he caught her in a serious betrayal. . . . …

Book Recommendations ~ Jane Austen Themed, Pt. 1

So I was recently asked to share an up-close picture of my Jane Austen bookshelf, and it got me to thinking—there are so many Jane Austen inspired “What If” books, which ones would I recommend to people? I have separated this post into a two-parter, the first part “have read” and the second part “TBR”, so look out for the second part next week.

Waiting on Wednesday (March 25)

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating. My pick this week is The Raven King (The Raven Cycle #4) by Maggie Steifvater. The fourth and final installment in the spellbinding series from the irrepressible, #1 New York Times bestselling author Maggie Stiefvater. All her life, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love’s death. She doesn’t believe in true love and never thought this would be a problem, but as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore. In a starred review for Blue Lily, Lily Blue, Kirkus Reviews declared: “Expect this truly one-of-a-kind series to come to a thundering close.” I am a HUGE fan of The Raven Cycle! I am so excited about this book; the last one left me with a cruel cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to find out what happens next. Though I am sad that this will be the last book of the series. 😦 What’s your …
