Book Recommendation Thursday ~ Allison Hewitt is Trapped (Zombie #1)

This week it seem like I’m going with the zombie theme. Since I posted about who I would have on my team in case of the zombie apocalypse, I thought I would recommend a book about a woman who fights zombies while trapped in a bookstore.

One woman’s story as she blogs – and fights back – the zombie apocalypse”

Allison Hewitt and her five colleagues at the Brooks and Peabody Bookstore are trapped together when the zombie outbreak hits. Allison reaches out for help through her blog, writing on her laptop and utilizing the military’s emergency wireless network (SNET). It may also be her only chance to reach her mother. But as the reality of their situation sinks in, Allison’s blog becomes a harrowing account of her edge-of-the-seat adventures (with some witty sarcasm thrown in) as she and her companions fight their way through ravenous zombies and sometimes even more dangerous humans.

Are you prepared for the Zombie Apocalypse? If not, read this to find out what could happen. But seriously, this book made me laugh every few pages. Allison Hewitt is just a grad student working at a bookstore (yay!) when her town is overrun by the undead. She starts a blog recording her adventures, and finds out that it is like that all across the country (I wondered throughout the book whether it was just the U.S.A. or the Continent as well). Follow her as she leaves the relative safety of the bookstore and makes her way to various safety points, all the while chopping down the undead with shiny red axe. Beware of swearing if that bothers you.
