This Week in Books | 08.03.16

I am joining in with the lovely Lipsy @ Lipsy’s Lost and Found’s feature which highlights our week in books. A similar theme is run by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words

NOW

I am currently reading: License to Quill by Jacopo della Quercia, Some Kind of Happiness by Claire Legrand, and This Adventure Ends by Emma Mills. I am loving these books so far, though Mills book is taking me a while to read.

THEN

I recently finished: I finally got my copy of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling, and I have to say it was a bit of a disappointment. I also finished Dark Matter by Blake Crouch, which was really good!

I have no idea what I’ll read next. I got Modern Lovers by Emma Straub from the library, as well as The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick, so probably one of these next.

What am I waiting on?

  1. I’m still undecided about whether or not to read the new Harry Potter. For some reason I haven’t gotten into the hype around it. I may read at some point but will wait to see reviews.

    • I was excited about it, but I was disappointed with it. It felt like bad fanfiction, though I did like some relationships in there. Since it’s a script, I’m hoping it is better when actually seeing the play.

  2. You see, this is why I’m on the fence as to whether to read The Cursed Child or not! After all, JK didn’t write it and it’s meant to be seen, not read… Hmn. I think I’m going to wait a bit longer. And, let’s face it, once they’ve made all the money they can out of the stage play they will make even more by doing a movie version… so I could always wait for that!

I’ve just checked out A Licence to Quill on Goodreads and it sounds like great fun. I know there’s a generally-accepted theory that Marlowe was a spy, so this sounds like there would be some funny mucking about with history.

Thanks for visiting my post (https://clairehuston.wordpress.com/2016/08/03/www-wednesday-3rd-august-2016/) and happy reading!

    • I’m thinking Cursed Child is better seen, as people who have seen the play seem to really love it. Read as a script, it just comes across as bad fanfiction. :/

License to Quill is lot of fun and has a lot of history in it, so it’s quickly becoming a favorite. Also, it’s Shakespeare and I couldn’t pass that up. 🙂

    • It’s probably a good idea to let the fuss die down. I wanted to wait but I was a little impatient. 🙂

I have a habit of reading multiple books at once, which comes in handy because my tbr pile seems to multiply by the day, lol. 😀

      • I totally understand, I did not want Harry Potter to end either, so every new bit is awesome 😀
Haha, indeed, that helps with the TBR, but my brain can’t cope with multiple stories xD
