Mini Book Review | Gertie’s Leap to Greatness

Gertie has her greatest mission yet: become the best fifth grader in the universe! This was cute story, and had adorable illustrations.

This was a pretty cute read. Gertie is “100% Not-From-Concentrate awesome” little girl who is determined that this year will be her year, to show her mother (who is moving out of their small town) what she will be leaving behind. But there is a problem: the “seat-stealing” new girl, Mary Sue Spivey, has the same goal.

I enjoyed this book, just for the fact that it reminds me how great children’s literature can be. There is a place for books such as Captain Underpants, but it won’t be a classic. This one I could see being a classic.

This is a good read for a 4th/5th grade kid you might know (in this case, probably my niece).

*I was provided an arc copy via Netgalley of this book in exchange for an honest review.
