Arc Book Review | The Bone Witch

screen-shot-2017-01-19-at-9-52-05-am

I wanted to like this book after seeing what everyone thought of it and how much they loved it, but for me, the book was just meh. I didn’t have feelings about it one way or the other.

I had started this book once before, last fall, when I was first approved for an arc copy, but I set it aside. I was just having a hard time getting into it. I then picked it up again recently, to read it before it released, and while I got farther along in it than before, I set it down again. The writing was overly described and flowery, yet it just felt like nothing happened. It was underwhelming for me.

The story follows Tea as she becomes a bone witch, someone who can resurrect someone from the dead. (Tea just happens to resurrect her recently dead brother.)

The good thing about this book: the cover is gorgeous! Props to the design department.

My rating: 2/5 stars

*I received an arc copy of this book via Netgalley from the publisher. Thank you!

  1. I’m seriously sitting here pouting at my computer screen because I am a giant toddler lol.
I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy this, Bone Witch is probably one of my top 5 of most anticipated books for 2017. I’ll probably still end up getting it but now I’ve been forewarned in case I end up not caring for it 🙂
P.s. it really does have a stunning cover!

    • I was really hopeful about this book, because so many people love this book, and I hope that it is one you will love as well! I’m in the minority for not liking it, from what I can see from the reviews already out there.
The cover is what first caught my interest!

      • same here I saw the cover and immediately fell head over heels, then I checked the synopsis and thought this book is going to be amazing.
The timing on this is so funny to me, I had been pouting (again) about the wait for this book and the next day I see your review pop up.
