The book follows 85-year-old Lillian Boxfish as she reflects on her life while strolling the streets of New York City. She’s led a fairly interesting life, but the book just feels static; nothing seems to happen, and I think that is what I had an issue with. I came away from reading this book not feeling much emotion towards it—I don’t like nor dislike it, and that’s always a bit disappointing when that happens. The idea behind this book is interesting, however it wasn’t enough to capture my interest. Honestly, the only thing I can say about this book was that it was underwhelming.
(I have to say the cover is gorgeous though!)
This ended up being do-not-finish read for me after 100 pages. I wish I had connected with as so many other readers seem to have, but it just wasn’t for me.
