This Week in Books | 08.23.17 #twib

I am joining in with the lovely Lipsy @ Lipsy’s Lost and Found’s feature which highlights our week in books. A similar theme is run by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words

NOW

I am currently reading The Snowman by Jo Nesbø, Death Note by Caroline Mitchell, and slowly making my way through The Cloister Walk by Kathleen Norris.

THEN

I recently finished reading The Blinds by Adam Sternbergh; Panicle [review here] and The Anatomy of Clay by Gillian Sze (both poetry reads); and The Little Bookshop on the Seine by Rebecca Raisin.

My review for The Blinds should be out soon, but the short of it is that while I loved the premise of the story, the execution of it left something to be desired.

NEXT

I’m not sure what I’ll read next. There’s so many books on tbr, it all depends on what mood I’m in when I go to chose my next read.

What am I waiting on?

[Linking up with Breaking the Spine]

Killman Creek (Stillhouse Lake #2) by Rachel Caine

Every time Gwen closed her eyes, she saw him in her nightmares. Now her eyes are open, and he’s not going away.

Gwen Proctor won the battle to save her kids from her ex-husband, serial killer Melvin Royal, and his league of psychotic accomplices. But the war isn’t over. Not since Melvin broke out of prison. Not since she received a chilling text…

You’re not safe anywhere now.

Her refuge at Stillhouse Lake has become a trap. Gwen leaves her children in the protective custody of a fortified, well-armed neighbor. Now, with the help of Sam Cade, brother of one of Melvin’s victims, Gwen is going hunting. She’s learned how from one of the sickest killers alive.

But what she’s up against is beyond anything she feared—a sophisticated and savage mind game calculated to destroy her. As trust beyond her small circle of friends begins to vanish, Gwen has only fury and vengeance to believe in as she closes in on her prey. And sure as the night, one of them will die.

I want to read Stillhouse Lake asap – and the second book sounds awesome. I love the covers of those books, too! I hope you’re enjoying The Snowman. I read that one many years ago and remember enjoying it. The movie looks awesome!

    • Sadly, I’m struggling with The Snowman. It doesn’t seem like much is happening yet and after I watched the trailer, I’m kind of afraid for things to happen, lol. That trailer scared the bejeezus out of me!
