A Week of Adventures

For the most part, my summer was filled with working. But I did have a few adventures! I went to Chicago with a friend, went on a motorcycle day trip with my dad, and bought lots of books (because, as my friend and I would say: VACATION). First up was Chicago. I took a week off of work, and headed to the city with a friend for an overnight stay. We had fun exploring, and ended up on an Architecture Boat Tour, learning more about the history of Chicago. We also ended up visiting an independent bookstore and buying a lot of books! (so delicious) My friend and I had a great time tooling around Chicago and relaxing. After getting back from Chicago, we had to bring my grandpa (who was up visiting) back to his home, and I got some reading done. That week, my dad and I decided to have a little day trip on his motorcycle around Wisconsin. We ended up at The House on the Rocks, which is pretty ugly, honestly, …

Book Haul ~ 4th of July

I had some fun this weekend at Half Priced Books! I got some great deals, and some great books. I also stopped at Barnes & Noble, and while they didn’t have the book I was looking for, they did have A Natural History of Dragons, which I have been wanting. Along with some book plate I found for 50¢(!), I also got: Of Love and Shadows by Isabel Allende The House of Spirits by Isabel Allende Aeneid by Vergil Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin #1) by Robin LaFevers The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs I am read A Natural History of Dragons at the moment, and I love it! I’ll need to get the other two soon.

An Epic Win

So I was shocked and excited when Epic Reads contacted me that I won five HarperTeen hardcovers. I’ve never won a giveaway, so I was totally not expecting that. Well, yesterday, those books arrived and I cannot wait to read them! The books I won: The Half Life of Molly Pierce by Katrina Leno Dust to Dust (Ashes #2) by Melissa C. Walker (I still need to read the first book) Blackout (Blackout #1) by Robinson Wells Dead Zone (Blackout #2) by Robinson Wells Meridian (Arclight #2) by Josin Mcqueen (I still have to read Arclight) These all look really good, and the cover for Meridian is so beautiful!

November Bookhaul!

So while I did not get much reading done last month (and how the heck is it already December!?! Time passes way to quickly!), I did have a bit of a shopping spree at Half Price Books, and a few off of Amazon (where would I be without Amazon anymore). Woohoo! I love that store. Without out further babbling, here is my list: A Christmas Carol and Other Stories by Charles Dickens Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls #2) by Maggie Stiefvater The Second Assistant by Clare Naylor and Mimi Hare Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein Frostbite (Vampire Academy #2) by Richelle Mead The Magical Christmas Cat– Anthology White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements #1) by Jennifer Armentrout Stone Cold Touch (The Dark Elements #2) by Jennifer Armentrout I also got Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater, which I had preordered (signed copy!!), as well as My True Love Gave to Me, edited by Stephanie Perkins. August Book Haul 2014

So it’s been a good month for books. If I thought I could stick to a book buying ban, I would put myself on one; but I know it won’t (mainly because I have tried), so maybe I will stick to trying to get around to reading the books that I already own. Because, ya know, I have only had them for forever. So, as to this month.  I kind of went crazy. Again. I got around 16 books this month. Which sounds ridiculous, I know, but between Triftbooks.com, Amazon, and Book Depository, I have gotten some really good deals.    The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen (look for a review soon, as I just finished it)  *Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos by R.L. LaFevers (I LOVE this series so much!) *Theodosia and the Staff of Osiris by R.L. LaFevers *Fire by Kristin Cashore Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken (currently reading) Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover (review here) Anna …
