A Week of Adventures

For the most part, my summer was filled with working. But I did have a few adventures! I went to Chicago with a friend, went on a motorcycle day trip with my dad, and bought lots of books (because, as my friend and I would say: VACATION). First up was Chicago. I took a week off of work, and headed to the city with a friend for an overnight stay. We had fun exploring, and ended up on an Architecture Boat Tour, learning more about the history of Chicago. We also ended up visiting an independent bookstore and buying a lot of books! (so delicious) My friend and I had a great time tooling around Chicago and relaxing. After getting back from Chicago, we had to bring my grandpa (who was up visiting) back to his home, and I got some reading done. That week, my dad and I decided to have a little day trip on his motorcycle around Wisconsin. We ended up at The House on the Rocks, which is pretty ugly, honestly, …

June Goals

So here are a few goals I am setting for myself for June: get back on track with reviews finish the arcs that I received from Netgalley participate in the memes again publish more of my book photos (maybe)

Top Ten Books I’ll Probably Never Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.  Each week there is a new topic and this week’s topic is: Top Ten All Time Favorite Authors.  Anything by Gillian Flynn. I know…people love her books, but I tried with Gone Girl, and I did not like it. At all. I gave up 1/4 of the way through. The rest of the Vampire Academy books. There is just too many of them, and the first one did not capture my interest enough to finish it. Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. I’ve heard enough about to know it is not a book I would like. War & Peace by Leo Tolstoy. I own it, and I have the plans to read it one day, but realistically, I probably never will. The rest of the Maze Runner books by James Dashner. I had a hard time with the first book-I’m not even going to bother with the rest. The Host by Stephanie Meyers. I wish I could add the Twilight books to this list. …

A Meme for Thursday’s

So I’ve been thinking for a while about creating a meme for Thursday’s along the lines of a “#TBT” with, either recommending a book you’ve read in the past, sharing a past review, or just sharing some pictures of books. What are your thoughts? Is this something that would interest anyone?

The Season of Lent

So for Lent this year, I decided to give up buying books. I had originally planned on giving up sugar, but I’ve been buying so many lately, I thought my checkbook would appreciate it, lol. But really, 40 days to catch up on and appreciate all the books that I do have, will be nice. But of course, I had to preorder a book the day before (Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman), because I wouldn’t be able to get it for the next 40 days, and I’ve been desperate for that book! So, until April 6, 2015, no more book buying! It will be a time for me to abstain from and appreciate what I do have and not feel the need to keep buying, buying, buying.
